WORRYING will prevent things from happening

Posted on September 11, 2024September 11, 2024 by careyourpresent

Let’s be honest, are you worrying about all these now?

  1. Financial Stability: Concerns about providing for the family, paying bills, and saving for the future.
  2. Health of Family Members: Worries about the well-being of children, spouse, and elderly parents.
  3. Children’s Education: Ensuring children receive a good education and have opportunities for the future.
  4. Work-Life Balance: Balancing job responsibilities with family time and personal life.
  5. Safety and Security: Keeping the family safe from accidents, crime, and other dangers.
  6. Elderly Care: Managing the care and well-being of aging parents.
  7. Future Uncertainties: Concerns about job security, economic stability, and global events.
  8. Relationship Strains: Maintaining a healthy relationship with a spouse and managing family dynamics.
  9. Personal Health: Worrying about one’s own health and ability to care for the family.
  10. Social Pressures: Dealing with societal expectations and pressures related to parenting and family life.

Worrying Won’t Change the Outcome

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in worrying about the future.

Many of us think that by worrying, we can somehow stop bad things from happening. But honestly, that’s just not true.

Worrying doesn’t change outcomes; it only messes with your well-being. Let’s dive into why worrying is pointless and how you can shift your mindset to something more productive.

The Illusion of Control

Worrying often makes us feel like we have control. We think that by constantly stressing over potential problems, we can influence the outcome.

In reality, worrying is just mental noise that distracts us from taking meaningful action.

Remember, while we can control our actions and responses, we can’t control everything that happens around us.

The Cost of Worrying

Worrying takes a toll on both our mental and physical health. It can lead to anxiety, stress, and even physical symptoms like headaches and fatigue.

Over time, chronic worrying can weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to illnesses.

Instead of wasting energy on worry, it’s more beneficial to focus on self-care and stress management techniques.

Shifting Your Mindset

  • Focus on What You Can Control: Identify the aspects of a situation that you can influence and take proactive steps to address them. This empowers you and reduces feelings of helplessness.
  • Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques, such as meditation and deep breathing, can help you stay present and reduce the tendency to worry about the future.
  • Set Aside Worry Time: Allocate a specific time each day to acknowledge your worries. This can prevent them from taking over your entire day and help you manage them more effectively.
  • Challenge Negative Thoughts: When you catch yourself worrying, ask yourself if the concern is realistic or if you’re blowing things out of proportion. Often, our worries are based on irrational fears rather than facts.

The Power of Positive Action

Instead of worrying, channel your energy into positive actions. Whether it’s planning, problem-solving, or simply taking care of yourself, these actions are far more productive. Remember, worrying won’t prevent things from happening, but taking action can help you navigate challenges more effectively.

Change your Mindset on worrying

Worrying is a natural response to uncertainty, but it’s important to recognize its limitations.

By shifting your focus from worry to action, you can improve your well-being and better handle whatever comes your way.

Remember, worrying won’t change the outcome, but your actions and mindset can make a significant difference.

Live in Present

As the Dalai Lama wisely observed:

“The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered ‘Man! Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.’”

This quote beautifully encapsulates why worrying is counterproductive. Let’s strive to live fully in the present, taking care of our health and well-being, and making the most of each moment.

Good articles that you should read!

People are drawn to dividend investing.

Why? Firstly, dividends provide a regular stream of income, allowing investors to receive a portion of the company’s profits on a periodic basis. This can be particularly attractive for individuals seeking consistent cash flow or looking to supplement their existing income. Additionally, dividend investing is often viewed as a more stable and predictable investment strategy compared to relying solely on capital appreciation.

I always write and share articles, especially on dividends which many people love them. Do read them!

Health is Your Most Valuable Asset – But human only regret after they lost it

Posted on May 8, 2024May 8, 2024 by careyourpresent

We always thought that we are invisible. Tomorrow will always come. But sadly to say, regardless of how powerful, how rich, how smart you are, you will fall sick and you will die one day.

THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS.

We…Forget

Many of us, including myself always forget that life is fragile, including myself.

I keep telling myself that I need to care your present (that’s why blog is titled this), but I always fall into the trap of worrying about future, regret about past and not living in the present.

It’s not easy to get out of this loop.

Regretfully, sometime we need some health scare to remind us.

And I have two scares recently.

IT was reminder and a wake up call.

(1) First Sickness

I was well in early April. Suddenly, my tooth become very painful. I thought that this is nothing until it’s so painful that it affected my daily life.

Hence, I went to see a dentist and discovered that I need ROOT CANAL.

For those who are not aware of what is Root Canal, let CHATGPT tell you.

A root canal is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the center of a tooth (the root canal system). It involves removing infected or damaged tissue from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the area, and then filling and sealing it to prevent further infection. This procedure helps save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted due to severe decay or infection. While it has a reputation for being painful, advancements in dental techniques and anesthesia have made root canals much more comfortable for patients.

Here’s a detailed explanation of the full root canal procedure:

  1. Preparation: Before the procedure begins, the dentist will administer local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding area. This ensures that the patient remains comfortable throughout the procedure.
  2. Access: Once the area is numb, the dentist will isolate the tooth using a rubber dam to keep it dry and free from saliva. This also helps to prevent contamination of the root canal during the procedure. Next, the dentist will create an opening in the crown of the tooth to access the pulp chamber and root canals.
  3. Cleaning and Shaping: Using small instruments called files, the dentist will carefully remove the infected or damaged pulp tissue from inside the tooth and clean the root canals. The dentist will use a series of files of increasing diameter to shape the canals, making it easier to disinfect and fill them later.
  4. Irrigation: Throughout the cleaning process, the dentist will flush the root canals with an antimicrobial solution to remove any remaining debris and kill bacteria.
  5. Filling: Once the canals are thoroughly cleaned and shaped, they are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This material seals off the canals to prevent bacteria from re-entering and causing further infection. In some cases, a sealer is also used along with the gutta-percha to ensure a complete seal.
  6. Restoration: After the root canal is completed, the access opening in the crown of the tooth is filled with a temporary or permanent filling material. In some cases, a dental crown may be recommended to strengthen and protect the tooth, especially if a significant portion of its structure has been lost due to decay or the root canal procedure.
  7. Follow-Up: Following the root canal procedure, the patient may experience some discomfort or sensitivity, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. The dentist will schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor the healing process and determine if any further treatment is needed.

Anyway, I spent about $2.5k with 4 visits. It’s suffering. Well health is important.
People never realized until they lose their teeth (my case).

(2) Sickness

While everyone is enjoying their Labour Day Holiday, I was enjoying myself in Accident & Emergency at hospital.

All of a sudden on that day morning, I have flashes in my eyes with lots of big floaters.

I had similar episode in another eye of mine 2017 and it was Retina Tear.

Hence, I went to the hospital, few hours of wait with money burnt – luckily there was no retina tear, just the jelly-like substance (vitreous) crystalized and didn’t pull off my retina.

But, this is my vision now. It’s difficult for me to even look at brighter things now (not bright thing).

Same but yet different.

Life is Short Treasure it

Life is short, treasure it.

I am lucky this time that it is not life threatening for my health scare.

But there are always someone somewhere out there suddenly has health issues, or worst still, drop death suddenly.

Many should have seen news on such cases. Of course, it could also be road accident etc.

What I want to say is

Don’t think your life as invincible and you will never die or fall sick.

No matter what, it may come one day and very suddenly.

Please live your life to the fullness, love your everyday and don’t regret any of your day. You never know when is your last day.

Enrichment classes for your child

Posted on April 9, 2024April 9, 2024 by careyourpresent

I was in a telegram financial independent group chat and saw that many are commenting on how expensive the kids are – need all sorts of enrichment classes, best childcare so that they can learned the most in their earliest year etc. Hence, they need at least 2k per month per child.

I was amazed when I saw this.

I have two kids and they all went sparklet tots. I don’t need them to learn anything in school but I want them to be happy in school. Think of in, they go in at 7.30am come out 6.30pm. It’s longer than your working hours.

Think of any way, even if the kids don’t learn anything in pre-school, won’t they still grow up and know the basic chinese, english, science when they are teenagers? Can’t be don’t know anything?

Out of classroom learning more important. Enjoy the sun and the grass.

Anyway, I can’t help but to commented this:

Trading a Guaranteed Today with an Uncertain Tomorrow

Posted on March 17, 2024April 4, 2024 by careyourpresent

One can always spend their time and life energy worrying about future, planning about future..while forgetting about current.

However,…what about now?

No one is immortal. There is always a last time.

Time is the ultimate wealth, not money.

Happy is free.

Yes you can worry, but what if later never come? I know live in present is not easy but we all must strive to do so.

You work hard and spend long precious waking hours in career.

Left little time with your loved one, for yourself.

You understand time value of money.

You understand delay gratification. Spend less money now for future.

But you are trading a Guaranteed Today with an Uncertain Tomorrow.

Tomorrow could be better due to all your various efforts, but one thing for sure.

IT WILL Look different

IT WILL LOOK Different – Yes, you will have more money, better financial security, nicer houses..

BUT you are no longer young, health is not there, many things that you could do in the past, you can do now. Your energy level will be much lower.

Your kids has grown up, they no longer wants to spend precious intimate time to play with you. They want to spend time with their friends, their own hobbies.

Your parents are old, they may not even be around.

Of course, you can always carry those money to your tomb.

If you don’t want, do something now.

It’s a weekend and I thought we should remind one another.

Look at these pictures. Pictures are more powerful than words.

Few pictures that change my life.

Posted on February 20, 2024February 20, 2024 by careyourpresent

I want to slow down but I can’t

Busy is part of modern day life. I am busy, you are busy, he is busy, she is busy. We almost busy everyday. Weekdays busy with work, child, friends, life, etc. Weekends busy to recuperate from the hassle of weekdays. Weekends are precious and so short whereas weekdays seems so long.

When we try to slow down and really enjoy life, see your surroundings, many of us will find difficulty because we are so used to busyness… and don’t know how to slow down.

But…

We should learn to slow down so that we will not regret one day – suddenly at 50+, 60+ and asked ourselves?

Where did my precious life and time gone do? What have I really lived and did I really live a fulfilling life with no regrets?

Sad Fact of Life

I don’t know how to slow down. I find it hard to slow down. I

tend to rush through things. When I bring my kids to buy food, grocery shopping at supermarket, not sure why I tend to walk fast and just want to buy and go. It’s difficult to slow down and simply window shop and enjoy time to her.

I guess we are too used to rushing here and there while forgetting how to live a real life.

Remember: We all will die one day

Many people keep thinking tomorrow and tomorrow, forgetting to live today.

Subconsciously they think that they will not die.

For me, I also tend to forget the fact that I do will die one day.

I tend to forget that I am 41 years old this year. If I am lucky, I still have slightly less than half of my life time till 80 years old.

If not, I have already lived and left with less than half of my life.

Is having so much money that important? Job that pays you salary that important?

or there are much more important things in life?

Few pictures that change my life.

Disclaimer (these pictures are not from me. Saw on X and on internet)

No one is immortal.

There is always a last time.

Last time your kids ask you to carry

Last time they climb on you.

Time is the ultimate wealth, not money. pic.twitter.com/OSMSS0q8wb

The Book

Remember that I have shared this book earlier?

The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

Share some texts from the book:

One spring day as I turned thirty, I looked into my mind and realized
three things. The moment I realized them, I knew what I had to do to be
happy.

First, people are not as interested in me as I had always believed. I
cannot remember what my friend was wearing when I saw her a week
ago. Or how her makeup was or what her hair was like. If I cannot
remember, then why would she remember similar things about me?
Although we do think about others from time to time, it is rarely for
more than a few minutes. When we are done thinking about other
people, our minds revert to what immediately concerns us. Why should
we spend so many hours of our lives worrying about how we appear to
others?

Second, not everyone has to like me. After all, I do not like
everyone. Certainly for all of us, there are politicians, coworkers,
clients, and family members we simply cannot stand. So then why
should everyone like me? There is no need to torment yourself because
someone dislikes you. Accept it as a fact of life; you cannot control how
others feel about you. If someone does not like you, let her have her
opinion. Just move on.

Third, if we are brutally honest with ourselves, most things we do for
others are in fact for ourselves. We pray for the well-being of our family
because we need them to be around. We shed tears when our partner
dies because of the impending loneliness. We sacrifice for our children
in the hope that they will grow up the way we want. Unless we become
enlightened like the Buddha or Jesus, it is difficult to abandon our deep-
rooted preoccupation with ourselves.

Stop worrying about what others think and just do what your heart
wishes. Do not crowd your mind with “what ifs.” Uncomplicate your
life and own up to your desires. Only when you are happy can you help
to make the world a happier place.

Please remember this – forget about whatifs. Follow your heart.

Stop worrying about what others think and just do what your heart
wishes.

Do not crowd your mind with “what ifs.” Uncomplicate your
life and own up to your desires.

Only when you are happy can you help
to make the world a happier place.

Money just buy you the chance of freedom but can’t buy back time. In life, there is no reset button. Time is limited but money is not.

When you are young and working, you exchange time for money. When you are old, you can have lots of money but you can’t buy time back, especially the things that you have missed (your strong health, time with young child) while busying striking out in career.

Your kids grew up and they no longer need you to accompany them. They no longer want to sit on your lap to share/do things with you…all these time you spent in your 9 to 6 or even longer cubicles…can the money that you have earned by you back these?

We always thought we have more time with our old parents, but we are wrong. Time with them is ticking away every day. One day it will suddenly be gone. There is no regret medicine, no reset in time. Gone is gone and cannot come back. No matter you are billionaires or millionaires, you cannot reset this.

We always thought that we have more time with our spouse every day, but we are wrong. One day they will be gone too. When you read this, please go tell your spouse that you love him/her and he or she is the best thing that you ever had in your life.

Love your life daily. You have one less day with your spouse, parents, children and yourself. Time is ticking away.

The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

Busy is part of modern day life.

It’s been very long since my last post.

Such is the life of most people. Me too.

Recently, I am very busy with work and life. My typical schedule for WFO day.

  • 6.00am – wake up. Do some Crypto/investment research.
  • 6.30am – send, kids to schoold
  • 7.45am – leave for work in the crowded bus and train
  • 5.00pm plus – leave for home in crowded bus and train
  • 6.00pm plus – pick my daughter
  • 6.00pm to 10.00pm – playground, playtime, settle dinner for kids time. Sometime, I don’t have time to eat myself.
  • 11.00pm – me time. Do some Crypto/investment research or read some books or simply don’t do anything.

Is your life as busy too?

Reading a book…

Recently, I found and is reading a book. Just finished Chapter 1.

The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

I am trying to slow myself down, learn from my young daughter – to be happy in all situation. But my elder son is thinking too much like me. Everyday we need to learn to be a better self.

Do consider reading too.

Some quotes from the book

I squeeze myself into the subway car.
People are crowded all around me.
I can either get annoyed
or think it’s fun that I don’t have to grab a handrail.
People react differently to the same situation.
If we look at it more closely,
we see it’s not the situation that is troubling us,
but our perspective on it.
Tsunamis are frightening not just because of the water,
but also because of the objects hurled at us by the water.
Tornadoes are terrifying not just because of the wind,
but also because of the objects uprooted and thrown by the wind.
We feel unhappy not just because something bad has happened,
but also because of the swirling thoughts about what happened

Photo by Nick Fewings on Unsplash

We know the world only through the window of our mind.
When our mind is noisy, the world is as well.
And when our mind is peaceful, the world is, too.
Knowing our minds is
just as important as trying to change the world

Photo by Kenny Eliason on Unsplash

A family takes a walk amid fallen autumn leaves.
Dad lifts up his five-year-old son,
and the boy showers him with kisses.
Mom watches with a smile on her face.
If we take time to look around,
we see ourselves surrounded by lovely moments.
Would you like to make your child happy?
Then get off work a little early today.
Wait for your child in front of school.
Horse around together on the playground.
Let your child choose where to go for dinner.
And shower your child with your loving attention.
On your way home, pick up ice cream for the family.
Your child will remember this day forever.
