As mentioned in my past article on my recent overseas vacation, I was away overseas for a week. When we are overseas, it’s good that we can take the chance to cut ourselves off from the internet and truly take a break. It’s the best time to Ditch your mobile phone to build real life.
However, unavoidably, we still need some internet access to navigate, talk to the transport companies which you have booked in advance in your home country before you leave for overseas etc. Many of us would think of using hotel wifi, hotpot wifi in airport for the access to save some roaming internet fees.
BUT I STRONGLY ADVISE against it. HOTEL WIFI is open is not safe. Hackers can easily hack and take control of the information sent via the network.
Even the WIFI provider can see what information that you have sent across. Do you feel safe to let some ulu accommodation owner to your password userID of your banking accounts?
There are many stories of scams, money loss due to accidental clicking of some strange website link etc. The next best option would be the using the local telco secured 4G/5G network.
My previous option
For the last few vacations, I am using MY REPUBLIC sim only. To add on roaming, it would cost me $6 per 1g for 30 days! Usually, I aim to cut myself from the world during any vacation in order to fully recharge myself, hence I usually have data leftover every time I went for any short trip, especially to Malaysia. What a waste!
New Option! Eskimo

This is great, because it means little to no data wastage. However, are the difference between these 3 categories? Price vs location coverage of course.
It is cheaper to buy the data for Popular/Regional eSim category as compared to Global category but the country coverage is narrower.
Take your pick on the one that most suit you!
2. Global Coverage for 85 countries!
It covers 85 countries. For those who are like keep their options open or travel multiple countries at one go, this is strong advantage to use Eskimo!
3. Easy sharing and transfer of data!
Usually, you would travel in groups. When you purchase the roaming data from Eskimo is larger quantities, the cost per GB is definitely cheaper!
