Many people think that they are God of Investing.

I am the God of Investing!

To do so, I can simply do stock picks of individual stocks, in distress or great potential to goes up in future. Then I can get 100% or 1000% gain within a year, then can just compound and be super rich! I can easily buy the next Amazon and Apple while they are very low market CAP and earn to the max!

Many people think they that they are the God of Investing!

They would beat the market return and most often, they really do for some times, and they really do. They beat the market, use a rod to beat up the market.

They laugh and think they can beat the index return, beating those who are satisfied with low return of 4-7% return in “safe” Singapore dividend stocks.

Then laugh at others with low 4-7% annual return. Have Fun Staying Power!

Yes, they are the God of Investing…

But Karma will come by one day. One bad trade and one lose all!

Truth

The truth is often otherwise.

One maybe has newbie luck to win the markets over a few trades, but could one do it in the long run? |
If yes, everyone in the world will be already Warren Buffett.

I can safely say that majority of the investors (90%) would be better with either of these two approaches.

Those who prefer regular cashflow: Invest in super “safe SG stocks“ that give 3-7% dividends stock with very minimal risk of capital. Of course this has country risk. But one can just collect dividends and chill every year. Better for your mental with regular cashflow. After dividends come in, go back and invest more to compound further. Of simply do ETF investing that given some dividend returns for those who are not sure how to pick “safe” stocks. （Can go read this post by Dr Tii).
Those who believe in the regular improvement of the world: Invest in world index fund like VWRA using DCA method and hope that the end of the world will not come and things always goes higher eventually given the human nature of keep improving things.

Learn investing from courses? Unpopular Opinion.

One more thing, more those who think they can become great investors after attending courses for few hours or days, think again.

Many of us attended decades of school from Primary, Secondary, JC, Poly, University. Dig your memories: For a simple academic knowledge that we need to learn like Mathematics (e.g. Calculus), how long did you learn it? Did you learn and Master it within just a few lessons? really?

Likewise, attending classes for investing for few hours, or few days would not make you a super better investor.

If this really so, why there are so many lousy investors around? Attending Courses simply make your course instructor rich! If they are so good in the first place, they would rather spend time doing their own investing/trading instead, why waste time teaching you?

The reason is simple: You are their consistent cash cow.

I want to slow down but I can’t

Busy is part of modern day life. I am busy, you are busy, he is busy, she is busy. We almost busy everyday. Weekdays busy with work, child, friends, life, etc. Weekends busy to recuperate from the hassle of weekdays. Weekends are precious and so short whereas weekdays seems so long.

When we try to slow down and really enjoy life, see your surroundings, many of us will find difficulty because we are so used to busyness… and don’t know how to slow down.

But…

We should learn to slow down so that we will not regret one day – suddenly at 50+, 60+ and asked ourselves?

Where did my precious life and time gone do? What have I really lived and did I really live a fulfilling life with no regrets?

Sad Fact of Life

I don’t know how to slow down. I find it hard to slow down. I

tend to rush through things. When I bring my kids to buy food, grocery shopping at supermarket, not sure why I tend to walk fast and just want to buy and go. It’s difficult to slow down and simply window shop and enjoy time to her.

I guess we are too used to rushing here and there while forgetting how to live a real life.

Remember: We all will die one day

Many people keep thinking tomorrow and tomorrow, forgetting to live today.

Subconsciously they think that they will not die.

For me, I also tend to forget the fact that I do will die one day.

I tend to forget that I am 41 years old this year. If I am lucky, I still have slightly less than half of my life time till 80 years old.

If not, I have already lived and left with less than half of my life.

Is having so much money that important? Job that pays you salary that important?

or there are much more important things in life?

One spring day as I turned thirty, I looked into my mind and realized
three things. The moment I realized them, I knew what I had to do to be
happy.

First, people are not as interested in me as I had always believed. I
cannot remember what my friend was wearing when I saw her a week
ago. Or how her makeup was or what her hair was like. If I cannot
remember, then why would she remember similar things about me?
Although we do think about others from time to time, it is rarely for
more than a few minutes. When we are done thinking about other
people, our minds revert to what immediately concerns us. Why should
we spend so many hours of our lives worrying about how we appear to
others?

Second, not everyone has to like me. After all, I do not like
everyone. Certainly for all of us, there are politicians, coworkers,
clients, and family members we simply cannot stand. So then why
should everyone like me? There is no need to torment yourself because
someone dislikes you. Accept it as a fact of life; you cannot control how
others feel about you. If someone does not like you, let her have her
opinion. Just move on.

Third, if we are brutally honest with ourselves, most things we do for
others are in fact for ourselves. We pray for the well-being of our family
because we need them to be around. We shed tears when our partner
dies because of the impending loneliness. We sacrifice for our children
in the hope that they will grow up the way we want. Unless we become
enlightened like the Buddha or Jesus, it is difficult to abandon our deep-
rooted preoccupation with ourselves.

Stop worrying about what others think and just do what your heart
wishes. Do not crowd your mind with “what ifs.” Uncomplicate your
life and own up to your desires. Only when you are happy can you help
to make the world a happier place.

Please remember this – forget about whatifs. Follow your heart.

Busy is part of modern day life.

Busy is part of modern day life. I am busy, you are busy, he is busy, she is busy. We almost busy everyday. Weekdays busy with work, child, friends, life, etc. Weekends busy to recuperate from the hassle of weekdays. Weekends are precious and so short whereas weekdays seems so long.

It’s been very long since my last post.

Such is the life of most people. Me too.

Recently, I am very busy with work and life. My typical schedule for WFO day.

6.00am – wake up. Do some Crypto/investment research.
6.30am – send, kids to schoold
7.45am – leave for work in the crowded bus and train
5.00pm plus – leave for home in crowded bus and train
6.00pm plus – pick my daughter
6.00pm to 10.00pm – playground, playtime, settle dinner for kids time. Sometime, I don’t have time to eat myself.
11.00pm – me time. Do some Crypto/investment research or read some books or simply don’t do anything.

I am trying to slow myself down, learn from my young daughter – to be happy in all situation. But my elder son is thinking too much like me. Everyday we need to learn to be a better self.
