$0 Free of Charge Transfer of SGX Shares from FSM to CDP and updates!

On 19 July 2023, I have shared in detail via this article (Cheapest and best way to trade Singapore Stocks with CDP) on how I did the transfer of my shares in FSM to CDP. I am old school and I love CDP very much and wanted to buy SGX shares using the lowest cost possible. There are only two options available in the market now – DBS Vickers Cash upfront and FSMone. But I can’t use DBS Vickers Cash upfront because I am using Joint CDP account as per of my estate planning. (read: Simplified Guide to the Key Gist of Grant of Probate and Estate Planning).

I love FSM as one of my favourite brokers! Why so?

As shared in that article, I used FSM to buy because I can put my spare investment funds earning 3.1% in FSM Autosweep while waiting for sales in the market. Commissions to buy sgx shares for value of $10+ is only around $12-$14 and I can transfer the shares to CDP for free.

As a summary of what has happened in the last transfer!

On 17 Jun, I have sent in request to FSM to request the transfer of three shares – Boustead, MIT and Areit from FSM to CDP. The transfer is done on 21 June 2.41pm with the shares minus from my FSMone account and credited to CDP account.

New Transfer today on 28 Aug 2023

Although Dividend Investing is Dangerous, I didn’t heed that advice. Instead, I have taken advantages of the recent volatility in the market to accumulate some shares and initiated the transfer of SGX shares from FSM to CDP on 28 Aug 2023. Let me share the screenshots and processes again for those who wish to find out more.

Let me share more about the Transfer Process

Step 1: Fill up the transfer Form

To transfer out your stocks/ETFs to CDP, please complete FSMOne Security Transfer-In/Out Instruction (Cash) and send it to us via email.

Sorry, FSMone replied me and informed me that there is an updated form with effect from 1 Aug 2023. Please go to the new link below.

You may download the new transfer form from our website at Support > Form/download > Stock, ETFs, Bonds Transfer in/out of FSMOne(Cash Holding)> SECURITIES TRANSFER FORM (CASH ONLY) .

How to fill the form:

There are some parts of the forms which I don’t know how to fill until I went to ask FSMone customer service. Since I have the information now, let me share it. See the screenshots below.

This part of the form quite easy and just fill accordingly.

Step 2: Download your latest statement of Holdings in FSMone

Download and attach a copy of the latest statement of holdings (dated within 3 months) with this transfer form and follow step 3.

Step 3: Send to FSM and wait!

Email your transfer form (step 1) and latest statement (step 2) to [email protected].

After that just wait for the acknowledgement and the transfer to take places.

I have done the transfer at least 6 times, so far all of them took within a week with only 1 time that took about a month. That’s why FSMone normally will tell you take 1-2 weeks but usually it’s faster than that.

Waiting Time Now

I have completed the 3 Steps on 28 Aug 2023 and sent out the email to FSM on 11.24 AM on 28 Aug 2023.

Updated: They replied me at the night time of 28 Aug 2023 and informed me that there is an update to the new form and asked me to submit the new form instead.

Let’s see how long this time will take 🙂

My original intention is to be transparent and also perhaps set it as a form of record for my own reference (future kids reference when they grow up). However, after a while, I am thinking perhaps it is better not to share and it may consciously and subconsciously, influence other people to follow the buy/sell?

Should I continue to share? maybe but not realtime.

Anyway, now the trades are done quite a while ago, perhaps I can share that recently,

  • I have bought CapitaLand China Trust (hit Covid low and lots of fear, why not?)
  • I have bought Mapletree Logistics Trust
  • I have bought CKI listed in Hong Kong at 39.1 (going to xD, more dividends coming and 6.5% yield, why not?)
  • I have bought Mapletree Industria Trust at $1.17 and sold at $1.25 because I feel that risk and volatility will be high in Sep 2023 for US side. MIT 50% is Data Centres in US.

Currently I am holding to 53% cash. Now is good time for investor to wait since waiting cash can earn 3%~4% yield. So why not wait for good chance to enter.
