Mirrors of Time: Delving into the Reflections of 2023

Posted on January 1, 2024January 20, 2025 by careyourpresent

It’s time of the year for me to write about my reflection for the YEAR 2023!

This is a very eventful, fortunate as well as tragic year for me. I started to write more on this site and shares my views about life – CARE your present as well as finance matter. For this site, I aim to be something more unique. Life is the more important part, money is just the tool to achieve it.

That’s why these are the few key Themes in my Blog.

Care your Present

Investment and Finance – Tradi Finance

Excitement in investment – Cryptocurrency

Good lobang via side Hustle – I kept to the principle to only share things that I am also using.

1) Tragic start for the year 2023

I started the year eagerly for my son to enter Primary 2 while daughter K1. With a blink of an eye, they have grown so big.

Time is gone so fast

Money just buy you the chance of freedom but can’t buy back time. In life, there is no reset button. Time is limited but money is not.

When you are young and working, you exchange time for money. When you are old, you can have lots of money but you can’t buy time back, especially the things that you have missed (your strong health, time with young child) while busying striking out in career.

Your kids grew up and they no longer need you to accompany them. They no longer want to sit on your lap to share/do things with you…all these time you spent in your 9 to 6 or even longer cubicles…can the money that you have earned by you back these?

We always thought we have more time with our old parents, but we are wrong. Time with them is ticking away every day. One day it will suddenly be gone. There is no regret medicine, no reset in time. Gone is gone and cannot come back. No matter you are billionaires or millionaires, you cannot reset this.

We always thought that we have more time with our spouse every day, but we are wrong. One day they will be gone too. When you read this, please go tell your spouse that you love him/her and he or she is the best thing that you ever had in your life.

Love your life daily. You have one less day with your spouse, parents, children and yourself. Time is ticking away.

When is the last time?

When will be the last time where you will sit on my lap, hug me to sleep, watch a movie date with me? Although I know that the day will come one day, but I hope won’t be so soon. I am doing my best to treasure all the limited time we have while I am still your entire world.

Extract from: The Best Advice to Parents and Child

To Parents

  • Let your child grow in the way they innately want to be, not what you want them to be. Your dream of what you want them to be may not be your child’s real dream. Be open and listen to their true hearts/feelings/thinking.
  • One day, your child will leave you to pursue their dreams. Let them go happily when the day come. That day will come faster than you can ever imagine, in meantime treasure every second that you have with your child while you are still their entire world. You may have many things in your mind now (work, money, dream, stress, surf net on mobile phone etc), but there is only a very extremely short window where you are their entire world. One it is gone; no money can buy the time back.

To Child

  • Don’t be afraid to share your true feelings, your true wishes, your true needs, your true wants to your parents. Regardless whether you believe or not, your parents want you to be happy. They always try to do things that they think is the best for you but sadly, they may not know what you truly want. Tell them what you truly want before it is too late. The positive outcome / reactions from them may be surprising to you eventually.
  • One day, your parents will leave you. No matter what grudges / happiness / anger / dissatisfaction/ satisfaction you have, everything will be gone on that very day. That day could be the day where you leave them to pursue your dream, or it could be the day when they leave the surface of Earth. The day will come faster than you think. Do something now while you still can. It’s not easy to open up fully and talk to your parents especially if the relationship is not that friendly/open, but please try. Something tried is still better than too late.

Started the year with sadness

While I am still lamenting/missing how fast they grow, suddenly my mum passed away in January 2023. I finally trying to really fully internalized and understand what is Truly understand Living in the Moment now. The blogging sphere also lost createwealth8888 uncle few months later. There was also the passing of the famous Jin Yong and creative CEO at young age. Charlie Munger also died in November.

I did a reflection of myself at 40 years old. Time is really short. I am at the half point mark life – 40 years old (hopefully this is at least halfway). Time really flies and there is no reset button.

We should always stop a while, reflect and be grateful with what life have given us. Treasure what we have now, living in the moment (which I didn’t in the past). I didn’t know how to Let It Go and focus on more important things in life – example, I was always bothered by what other people said (like Friends, Colleagues etc) and reacted negatively sometimes, especially when there are the typical Office Politics involved. Looking back now, does it really matter what they said? Lifespan of human is so short and limited, we should live a fulfilling life full of experiences that we love to have instead.

Days seems long but years are really short. With a blind of an eye, I am already 40 years old. Do you really need to care what other people or other society say about you? I used to be like that but now I don’t. I like to listen to advice, good one I will listen, bad one we should learn to let go and don’t keep to your heart. Don’t waste your precious time/life on unimportant thing.

Life is really short

Life is really short. These three pictures will change your life after you have seen it.

Few pictures that change my life.

Disclaimer (these pictures are not from me. Saw on X and on internet)

No one is immortal.

There is always a last time.

I am guilty to chase money, missing some of the last time with my kids while I am working in my 9 to 5.

Career is something very important to most important, especially it make up of almost 8-10 hours of your awake time, given that one is only awake for typically 16 hours out of 24 hours. That mean 1/3 of your time, your time is spent on career. That’s why it is good to be in a career/job that one love. But sadly, most people cannot get a job/career you love right? In the end, it is just a tool to make end meets. If one doesn’t need to drag their feets to work, it is already a big blessing in disguise.

What if later never come?

Many people keep thinking of later. What if later never come? Will you live in regret?

Everyday we are chasing for more and more money, in order to provide better life to yourself and especially to your loved ones. We always told ourselves that once we reach 1 Million example, we will quit job and spent your finite precious time with your love ones.

However, it’s never enough. When we have 1 million, we will aim for 2 millions. When we have 2 millions, we will aim for 3 millions, 5 millions, 10 millions, 100 millions….in the process you become old and tired….then suddenly you may realised that

“LATER may never come”…

Your kids grew up and they no longer need you to accompany them. They no longer want to sit on your lap to share/do things with you…all these time you spent in your 9 to 6 or even longer cubicles…can the money that you have earned by you buy back these?

We always thought we have more time with our old parents, but we are wrong. Time with them is ticking away every day. One day it will suddenly be gone. There is no regret medicine, no reset in time. Gone is gone and cannot come back. No matter you are billionaires or millionaires, you cannot reset this.

We always thought that we have more time with our spouse every day, but we are wrong. One day they will be gone too. When you read this, please go tell your spouse that you love him/her and he or she is the best thing that you ever had in your life.

Living in Present is not easy

You should never take the Gift of Life for Granted. No one is immortal and will be gone from the surface of Earth one day and that day may come sooner than one think.

But is living in present not easy.

小时候,幸福很简单。长大了,简单很幸福。

Time is the ultimate currency, not money

Time is the ultimate currency, not money. Money just buy you the chance of freedom. When you are young and working, you exchange time for money. When you are old, you can have lots of money but you can’t buy time back, especially the things that you have missed while busying striking out in career

Our Life only have 5 short Days – we should live the best for every day.

What will you bring with you on your last day on Earth?

The days are long but the years are short

This is a phrase that was kept reiterating to me by various blogs online, by people around me etc – people reminded one another to be with your kids while they still need you when they are young.

However, I strongly disagree to this phrase. This phrase is totally wrong, absolutely wrong. This phrase is to trick people to believe that time are slow (in days) but yet fast in (years). TOTALLY WRONG!

The correct phrase should be:

Both the days and years are short. In fact, time is ticking away every single second. For each passing day, you will have one less day with your dear spouse, parents, children or even for yourself.

We always thought that we have more time with our spouse every day, but we are wrong. One day they will be gone too. When you read this, please go tell your spouse that you love him/her and he or she is the best thing that you ever had in your life.

We always thought that we have more time to play with your kids while they are growing up every day very fast. With a blink of an eye while you are busy hustling away 9 to 5, trying to earn more and more money (maybe you already have enough, but you keep thinking you don’t. Read this post: You will likely never run out of money with 1 million: Expectation vs Reality), they are already so big. They no longer want to play with you. They want to go out with friends. By then no matter how rich you are, 10 millions/10 billions, they still rather go out with friends. You missed it means missed it. There is no reset button.

Life is short, billionaire or pauper, you only have 1 life, same time, once gone it is gone. Please Love your life and Careyourpresent. Embracing the Transience: Life Is Short

We learn from both ways

We often thought that as adults, we should know much more things as compared to young children. Moreover, we were young once and now being adult, with richer life experiences, we are always better and more right from children. There is nothing to learn from them. Instead, they should be learnt from us and followed us as their role models. This is definitely the mindset of many adults.

However, I beg to differ. There are many life lessons that are either long forgotten or suppressed by our own parents as we grow up. I have learnt a lot from them.

11 Important Unexpected Life and Money lessons to learn from Your Children

Greatest Regrets in life

What is your greatest regrets in life? or your purpose in life?

Don’t forget that It’s little unexpected things that make up a real life.

We should always remember the above and grow a great life. Something only happen once in life, if you missed it, it’s gone forever…

Learn to let go of busyness in life.

2) Portfolio and Investment Updates

Besides life, money can buy you time too. Hence I started the year with the reflection of 2022. Since many are sharing portfolio, I shall do it for this year too.

As times goes by at the end of 2023, I am wondering if I should it again. Idea is not for flexing, it’s mainly for myself to keep a record. Regardless, I still did a minor update in Dec 2023.

Dividends/interest

Although Dividend Investing is Dangerous,

I still get about 3.5k dividends/interest per month for the year 2023 with about 50% in cash/cash equivalents excluding emergency fund. In term of absolute amount vested in my portfolio, it is much higher now as I have injected more funds from my salary and investment returns.

I have also almost max my and my spouse Singapore Saving Bonds. Did you Lock your last good Risk Free Rate before too late? My SSB Bond ladders are done too. This gave me about $1000 per month for a period of 10 years. Good enough to cover the basis expenses.

The year also ended with treasury yield going down while Reits going up (for those Singapore Investors). My portfolio is up about 9% but couldn’t be done better HK/China didn’t down so much.

Photo by Brett Jordan on Unsplash

Mistake

Personally, I did added a lot when the market goes down in the recent months – reducing my cash from 50% to 30+%. On hindsight I should have added more. I have patience, but I lack the guts to buy big, key weaknesses as compared to many investors.

However, as I still think that:

This is the first time in history where there is an unprecedented increase in interest rates by FED within a short span of few months. There will be time lag effect for the hike in rate to affect the market – very likely the coming few months till early Q1 2024. We shall see.

Hence, I been taking profits as the market rally in December to the recent high. Seems like a wrong move and I have missed many gains. But…

Photo by André François McKenzie on Unsplash

Cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrency is getting the hype recent. Seems like bull market is coming for Cryptocurrency.

Personally I had some fun with meme coins plus hunting for Airdrops! Crypto volatility is high, not for the fainted hearted but the returns can be amazing. I posted more frequently on Crypto via X (formerly known as Twitter) for Crypto because Crypto really is time sensitive, few hours could be big difference, no time to post on blog anyway.

All the best to 2024

Anyway, let’s see how it goes for year 2024.

Potential Milestones in 2024

  • Invest the remaining 50% of my cash and grow portfolio. Focus on more intangible wealth and know that work is not part of my life.
  • Find out what is enough for myself and take a short career break while my child still needs me. But should I really F.I.R.E?
  • Generate more passive income
  • Move to new house and touch up on estate planning
  • Go for more vacation trip and truly appreciate why we go for vacation
  • Live a happier life, ultimately, happy is free!

Hope everyone huat!

Why do we go for Overseas Vacation?

Posted on December 9, 2023December 2, 2023 by careyourpresent

Why do we go for overseas vacation yearly, frequently? I am guilty of this too as I will be overseas this week for a short vacation with family.

But why?

Have you considered and understand why so many of us spent our annual leaves (agreed free time from employee) and so much money (exchanged from time of our life) for a short few days or few weeks of vacation?

If you love your life so much, every day is holiday/vacation? why travel?

Photo by Chen Mizrach on Unsplash

Why Vacation?

In today’s fast-paced world, where the daily grind of life often leaves us feeling overwhelmed and stressed, it is no wonder that people eagerly look forward to their holidays.

Taking a break from the everyday rush and stress of work allows individuals to recharge, rejuvenate, and find time to relax.

However, some may question whether it is worth spending a significant portion of their life energy (salary) for just a few days of vacation. I

Why people are drawn to go on holiday?

Escaping the 9 to 5 Grind:

One of the primary reasons people like to go on holiday is to escape the monotonous routine of the 9 to 5 grind.

The daily demands of work, deadlines, and responsibilities can take a toll on our mental and physical well-being.

Going on holiday provides an opportunity to break free from this routine and experience a change of scenery.

Whether it’s exploring a new city, relaxing on a beach, or immersing oneself in nature, a holiday offers a much-needed escape from the daily grind.

Relieving Everyday Rush and Stress:

The constant rush and stress of everyday life can leave individuals feeling drained and overwhelmed. Going on holiday allows people to step away from their hectic schedules and take a breather.

It provides a chance to slow down, unwind, and focus on self-care.

Whether it’s indulging in spa treatments, practicing yoga, or simply lounging by the pool, a holiday offers a respite from the demands of work and responsibilities.

Finding Time to Relax:

In our busy lives, finding time to relax can be a challenge.

Holidays provide an opportunity to prioritize self-care and relaxation.

Whether it’s reading a book, taking long walks, or enjoying a leisurely meal, a holiday allows individuals to engage in activities that bring them joy and help them unwind.

Taking time to relax not only improves mental and physical well-being but also enhances productivity and creativity when returning to work.

Photo by Meritt Thomas on Unsplash

The Worth of Spending Life Energy (Salary) for a Few Days of Vacation:

While it is true that going on holiday requires a financial investment, it is essential to consider the value it brings to one’s overall well-being.

The benefits of a well-deserved break extend beyond the duration of the vacation itself. Research has shown that taking regular holidays can reduce stress, improve mental health, and increase job satisfaction.

By investing in experiences and creating lasting memories, individuals can enhance their quality of life and find a sense of fulfillment.

Moreover, holidays provide an opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones, strengthening relationships and creating bonds.

The shared experiences and moments of joy during a holiday can create lasting memories that enrich our lives.

These intangible benefits are invaluable and cannot be measured solely in terms of money.

Additionally, going on holiday allows individuals to broaden their horizons, experience new cultures, and gain a fresh perspective on life.

Traveling exposes us to different ways of living, diverse traditions, and unique landscapes.

It fosters personal growth, empathy, and a sense of adventure.

These experiences contribute to personal development and can have a profound impact on one’s outlook on life.

Photo by Hannah Busing on Unsplash

Are you holidaying in this December vacation period?

The reasons why people like to go on holiday are multifaceted.

Escaping the 9 to 5 grind, relieving everyday rush and stress, finding time to relax, and experiencing personal growth are all compelling factors.

While the financial investment may seem significant, the benefits of a well-deserved break extend far beyond the duration of the vacation itself.

Holidays provide an opportunity to recharge, rejuvenate, and create lasting memories. So, next time you question whether it is worth spending your life energy (salary) on a few days of vacation, remember the invaluable benefits it brings to your overall well-being.

Anyway, after posting for many beach pictures, I will be going to beach to escape stress of work life and without roaming data for a week at least!

The True Wealth: Intangible Wealth

Posted on December 5, 2023December 2, 2023 by careyourpresent

Pursue of Wealth

In our relentless pursuit of financial prosperity, we often fall into the trap of equating wealth solely with tangible assets such as money, property, and material possessions.

Unfortunately, this narrow perspective neglects the priceless treasures that define the essence of our existence – intangible wealth.

It is essential to recognize the immense value of intangible elements such as familial bonds, friendships, health, and personal fulfillment, which contribute to genuine happiness and overall well-being.

What is Intangible Wealth?

Contrary to popular belief, wealth encompasses more than just wealth amassed through financial success. Intangible wealth consists of non-physical assets that cannot be quantified in monetary terms.

It encompasses the harmonious relationships we share with our loved ones, the sense of purpose and fulfillment derived from meaningful work, our mental and physical well-being, personal growth, and the memories we create throughout our lives.

Difference between Tangible and Intangible Wealth

While tangible wealth can provide immediate gratification and temporary happiness, it often proves inadequate in sustaining long-term fulfillment.

Material possessions deteriorate, financial markets fluctuate, and external circumstances change. On the other hand, intangible wealth embraces those elements that remain resilient in the face of adversity and form the foundational pillars of personal contentment.

Intangible Wealth in Relationships

One of the most significant dimensions of intangible wealth lies within the realm of relationships. By nurturing sincere friendships, fostering close-knit family ties, and cultivating meaningful connections, we can establish a support network that adds immeasurable value to our lives. Investing time and energy into building strong relationships ultimately leads to a sense of belonging, emotional support, and an enriched perspective on life.

Intangible Wealth and Personal Growth

Another vital aspect of intangible wealth resides in our continuous personal growth and self-actualization. By identifying our passions, goals, and purpose in life, we can set our sights on achieving genuine fulfillment and leaving a lasting positive impact. Engaging in lifelong learning, exploring new experiences, and pushing beyond our comfort zones all contribute to intangible wealth, enriching our lives and broadening our horizons.

Intangible Wealth and Well-Being

A cornerstone of intangible wealth lies in our physical and mental well-being. The state of our health influences our ability to enjoy life’s pleasures, pursue our dreams, and engage fully in relationships. Nurturing our physical health through regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate rest is crucial, as is prioritizing our mental well-being through mindfulness practices, stress management techniques, and seeking support when needed.

How to achieve Intangible Wealth?

To achieve true intangible wealth, it is essential to strike a harmonious balance between tangible and intangible resources. While financial stability is necessary, it should not overshadow the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment in relationships, personal growth, and well-being.

Consider the following actions:

  1. Reassess Your Priorities: Reflect upon your values and identify what truly matters to you beyond material possessions. Emphasize the importance of relationships, personal growth, and well-being in your life.
  2. Invest in Relationships: Dedicate time and effort to nurture your relationships. Show genuine care, empathy, and appreciation for your loved ones. Create enduring memories and strengthen the bonds that enrich your life.
  3. Pursue Personal Growth: Explore your passions, set meaningful goals, and commit to lifelong learning. Engage in activities that challenge you and contribute to personal development. Embrace change and embrace the opportunity for continued growth.
  4. Prioritize Well-Being: Adopt a holistic approach to your well-being by prioritizing both physical and mental health. Incorporate regular exercise, a nutritious diet, and adequate rest into your routine. Cultivate mindfulness practices, seek professional help when needed, and surround yourself with positive influences.

Reminder of Real Life

In our pursuit of wealth, let us not lose sight of the true essence of a fulfilled life.

By recognizing the significance of intangible wealth and incorporating it into our priorities, we can achieve lasting happiness and contentment.

The treasures of family, friends, health, and personal purpose are immeasurable, and by embracing them, we unlock the true meaning of wealth.

Strive for a harmonious balance between tangible and intangible resources, and you will undoubtedly embark on a fulfilling and prosperous journey towards genuine rich and abundant living.

Are you one of them?

Posted on November 30, 2023November 30, 2023 by careyourpresent

There are so many things in life which are full of uncertainty.

Yet, many live in fear about future, keep accumulate more and more wealth so that in future they felt secured. But how much is really enough? Greed has no end; fear has no reasons. In the meantime, they forgot to live in present, care their present.

Many people in their relentless pursue of wealth, sacrificed many important things (family, time, health, passion etc) to them during the journey. Are you one of them? Many people lived as though that they will never die.

Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

Sadly, but as expected, it was oversubscribed. Although I have applied 30k + 30k (with spouse), I only managed to get 20k, total 40k with my spouse. With this application, I am almost at the 200k limit for me and my spouse.

Good articles that you should read!

People are drawn to dividend investing.

Why? Firstly, dividends provide a regular stream of income, allowing investors to receive a portion of the company’s profits on a periodic basis. This can be particularly attractive for individuals seeking consistent cash flow or looking to supplement their existing income. Additionally, dividend investing is often viewed as a more stable and predictable investment strategy compared to relying solely on capital appreciation.

I always write and share articles, especially on dividends which many people love them. Do read them!

Can I and should I be Stay at Home Parent with my situation?

Posted on November 24, 2023November 17, 2023 by careyourpresent

Can I be Stay at Home Parent with my Portfolio?

When I was having Tea with one of my friend, this question was asked by my friend to me.

Both my friend and spouse are still working and they are thinking to have one of them quit and be Stayed at Home Parent. After all, time are limited with the kids and if one financial and mental strength allow it (must know how to fill, survive unstructured time with no social status), why not?

Hence, I asked more details from them.

Why one person quit corporate life only and for how long?

My first question to them.

Why one person quit corporate life only?

Answer:

They are worried if they have enough. Ultimately, they are still “relatively” young late 30+, with household combine income of $10-$15k. Assuming life span of 80 years old, they still have 40 years left if they are lucky. Hence, with at least 1 stable income would let them feel safer.

For how long?

Answer:

They are not planning to F.I.R.E (Financial Independent, retired early) like many people. In fact, they are ok with working, but work take their limited time away with their growing kids. Once time gone is gone, but money can be earned back. Hence, they only want to take a break for few years before going back to work again.

Portfolio

Their combined family portfolio un-invested cash (but is earmarked as investible funds) + Invested money in volatile assets such as equities/etf etc + emergency fund is about 1.3 millions.

They have vested almost 400k in the favorite Singapore Saving Bonds, which give them cash flow of about 1k per month. Their portfolio is currently generating about 2k per month worth of dividends. Hence, total 3k per month (2k volatile assets, 1k safe stable asset for 10 years).

If they add in high bank interest rate (which currently most of us are enjoying), they should have another 1 to 1.5k. Hence over all about $4 to $4.5K monthly, assuming high bank interest rates are not gone.

In term of CPF, both of them has hit Full Retirement Sum (FRS). The yearly SA interest would definitely exceed the ever increasing FRS every year.

Their houses are also fully paid.

Insurance all fully paid except one whole life that cost them about $2.6k every year for another 10 more years.

Expenses

They have been tracking their family expenses since year 2015.

Their household expenses is about 3k per month on average. Worst year hit until $4.1K due to parents hospital expenses, with some of the years hitting 2.6k per month. The expenses so far included their insurance whole life plans. However, all the plans are fully paid by end of 2022, except one whole life that cost them about $2.6k every year for another 10 more years.

With the above…conclusion

With the above, could they afford one spouse to stay home?

Key summary:

  • One spouse still working which will generate at least $5k per month from active income (exclude bonuses).
  • Portfolio income about $4 to $4.5k (mixture of both volatile and non-volatile components).
  • Household expenses about $3k per month.
  • House fully paid.
  • Both spouse hit FRS.

Can my friend take a short sabbatical and be with kids before they grow up and don’t need my friend?

Next year GST is 9% with high inflation, financial markets also very volatile.

What should my answer to them? I told them to let me think a while, but haven’t answer them yet.

What do readers think?

Battle of Enough VS Spending for Financial Bloggers

Posted on November 17, 2023November 17, 2023 by careyourpresent

Recently, there are many “sparring” or “discussion” among many of the financial bloggers for the past few days, especially for those famous bloggers who are financially independent. Let me share some of these posts:

Are Financial Influencers spending too little for their own good? by Christopher who is Financially Independent at age 39 but still conducting courses/part time jobs now.

Gratitude, My Portfolio, and My Qualification to Advice on F.I. by Kyith who is Financially Independent, but still serving in Providend as passion for Financial Adviser.

F.I.R.E. Always have a Plan B! Better and cheaper! by the famous AK who have 200k annual passive income, retired and then enjoying video games.

This also sparkled many discussions on forums.

That results in various comments such as:

If you are spending, you are doing something wrong in this life.

My friend showed me his post of hoarding can food like peanuts, tuna. Eating with bread. He even says $2.50 per meal

$4 cai png is a treat? I fainted

Others find joy in spending excessively, or beyond what they should. Savings is a “burden”, or at least a mere means to an end, delayed gratification for greater reward. But to a man like AK, miserliness is not misery, but ecstasy lol.

Deep down, I genuinely believe this strategic, low-cost, globally diversified, 80-60% equity strategy can give perpetual inflation-adjusted income if we respect the initial income spent relative to the portfolio value (keep it 2.5% or lower)

Adding Oil to Fire

As the sayings goes, 火上加油 (adding oil to fire), this article is not to add oil to fire.

There are people who like to do all sorts of mathematical financial models etc to simulate withdrawal rates, cash-flow, returns based on various assets classes etc, whereas some simply see dividend income > expenses means financial independent etc and can last indefinitely. Previously I have also shared something on this Ultimate Formula for FIRE (Financial Independent, Retire Early). There is one interesting way is passive income > active income.

I won’t be sharing more on this for this article.

I am not going to argue 2.5%, 3%, 4.5% withdrawal rates, and come out with all sorts of financial modelling using past historical data as evidence to substantiate my points. Future is future, past is past. Past work doesn’t means future will work. Past don’t work doesn’t means future will not work. Many try to predict future, but who can? Can you even predict what will happen tonight or even the next 10 minutes?

Different people have different perspectives, even if you argue till the end of the world, nothing will change, especially the views of people who are already 40+ and above, most of their life views, behaviors are already there – fixed based on the past decades of life experiences.

In fact, there is no point to try to change / influence the views of others such that they are same as yours (but apparently, many people are still doing so, don’t know for what purposes), you can of course share, but there is no point of getting into arguments.

“You are so anxious about the future that you do not enjoy the present. You therefore do not live in the present or the future. You live as if you are never going to die, and then die having never really lived.”

Dalai Lama

Your Life is your Life

Your Life is your Life. His Life is his life. Her Life is her life. No two people have the same life experiences, and hence same life perspectives on everything regardless of how similar they are. Learn to let go is important.

Live your own life, share your experiences to help others, not trying to change their life views. It’s ok that others don’t agree with you and you can continue to share, but don’t need to enforce your own views into them. There is no righteous Man that is always right, there is no need to follow others if what you are doing makes you happy.

There are people who are happy with $4 cai png. There are people who are happy with home cook food that cost less than $2 per meal. There are people who eat atas fruits that cost $400 like spending $0.01 daily only. There are people who loves to eat atas restaurant fine dining with $100+ per meal.

So be it, do what you love most? Live your best life with no regrets.

Greatest Regrets in life

Never forget this…

All the money, atas food, lousy cheap food etc, don’t belong to you.

If $10 were stolen from your $86,400 bank account, you wouldn’t throw away the remaining $86,390, right? Similarly, with 86,400 seconds in a day, don’t let 10 seconds of negativity ruin the entire day.

The idea is to focus on the abundance of positive experiences and time rather than dwelling on minor, fleeting negative incidents.

We are all billionaire

We are all billionaire, you may not be money billionaire, but you are your own time billionaire. Time is the most scare resources in this world.

Unlike Money. Time can only be depleted. You can never earn it back.

Time Billionaire

The average lifespan of 80 years is equivalent to 2,522,880,000 seconds. Starting with 60 seconds in a minute, multiplied by 60 minutes in an hour, then by 24 hours in a day, followed by 365.25 days in a year to account for leap years, and finally multiplied by the desired 80 years. The result is an estimated total of approximately 2,522,880,000 seconds in an 80-year lifespan

Every second is gone very fast. Days are long but years are short. Within a flash, we are all grown up. Within a flash, your parents will die, your kids will grow up, you will die one day too. Whatever trivia arguments that you have got into doesn’t have meaning in the short span of life. You can be emperor, president of a country or even the world, but one day you will be gone with the wind, buried in the soil, and after a short one, no one will remember you, especially who argue and is unhappy with you.

Few pictures that change my life.

Disclaimer (these pictures are not from me. Saw on X and on internet)

No one is immortal.

There is always a last time.

Last time they climb on you.
